Acquisitions with the support of the Hungarian government

The adult education program within the Caritas Alba Iulia Association – Medical and Social Assistance has been operating for more than 10 years. In 2020, during the pandemic, educational activities continued with the observance of different safety standards, although with a lower volume.

In 2021, the certification of the Protected Unit of the Jakab Antal Study House, unique in Romania, opened new perspectives in supporting people with disabilities. The unit operated by the organization is a protected unit, because over 60% of its employees are people with disabilities who benefit from continuous training.

From 2021, we launched a dual training program for students in the professions of chef, waiter and hotel worker at the Jakab Antal Study House, promoting the long-term well-being of young people in their homeland through competitive practical knowledge transfer. The essence of the dual courses is that the students can test the knowledge acquired in the theoretical classes in practice, with the aim of acquiring marketable knowledge after graduating from vocational high school. To this end, a cooperation agreement was signed with the János Kájoni Vocational High School in Miercurea Ciuc and the Municipality of Miercurea Ciuc at the beginning of the year.

In order to ensure the basic and adequate conditions for further operation, infrastructure improvements were required in our unit. To this end, we have applied for funding in mid 2021 under the Bethlen Gabor Fund program. With the help of the 900,000 HUF grant, we purchased a modern professional stove and professional kitchen utensils used in the dual education and in the training program for people with disabilities.

The investment will be very helpful in the education and training of students and staff with disabilities, as well as in maintaining the level of vocational education for many years.
