On the 4-6th of August, 14 young people from Mureş County took part in an adventure education camp as part of a project called the Find Your Way to the World of Work. The camp was organized and carried out by mentors Eva Bojoievschi and Áron Székely.

The location of the camp was Sovata, and the program was provided by Anna Incze and Péter József, teachers of Outward Bound Romania. The instructors followed the principle of gradation, leading participants from weaker to more difficult obstacles. During the three days, the young people faced the following challenges: rope jumping in groups, low rope course, rock climbing, rafting and Tyrolean traverse.

At the end of the activities, the trainers discussed with the participants the course of the activity: what helped them to solve the task successfully, what hindered the success, was there planning and redesign, what lessons could be learned at the end of the activity?

The aim of the camp was for the participants to experience their ability to overcome obstacles by preparing, persevering, stepping out of their comfort zone, working together. They experienced the power of collaboration, communication, teamwork, planning and perseverance. Surprising themselves, the youth may have realized that they are capable of more than they think and can use this experience to overcome everyday obstacles.

The camp’s policies helped to experience true values by restricting the use of electronic devices and banning adolescents from drinking alcohol and smoking, so young people spent more time building and strengthening personal relationships.

Besides the programs, they were able to experience dealing with real conflict situations using strategies taught by mentors.

The team eventually performed so well that the instructors rewarded their work with a letter of merit.
