Building walls
Not between people, but in the strict sense of the word: the walls of the Caritas community center in Cotuș arrived on Saturday afternoon and were already standing on Sunday evening. Students from the Austrian profesional school HTL1 Bau und Design Linz, accompanied by their teachers, came to carry out a significant part of the construction work in the small village near the city of Târgu Mureș.
In recent months, approximately 25 m³ of wood and 70 m³ of insulation material have been used in practical courses held in the hall of the vocational school to prepare the wall elements of a single-storey building with an area of approximately 200 m². The prefabricated wooden elements, beams, building materials and the necessary assembly tools were loaded onto trucks, and the thirty volunteers boarded the train and traveled approximately 1,200 kilometers to us.
The costs and transport of the building materials were covered by the Caritas Linz donor circle, Freunde der Caritas, while the volunteers’ travel and accommodation costs were supported through Erasmus+. The students and their teachers undertook this work as an internship and on a voluntary basis.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the windows from Nyulas Attila’s workshop arrived, the insulated glass units of which was donated by the Glass Centre, Primer Electro Ltd.
Thank you!
