Children from Budvar learned about environmental awareness

The beneficiaries of the Rise project by Caritas Alba Iulia took part in a summer camp dedicated to environmental education. The children from grades 5 to 8 in Budvar spent five days, between August 26 and 30, 2024 in Odorheiu Secuiesc and its surroundings, where they enjoyed various activities aimed at developing their environmental awareness.

Bekő Fóri Zenkő, mentor for primary school students, and Bodó Csilla, community facilitator, organized this five-day camp, offering participants new knowledge, fun opportunities, and valuable educational programs.

On the first day, the children participated in various ice-breaker games designed to create a cheerful atmosphere and help them get to know each other better. On the second day, they listened to a presentation by Albert Csilla, a representative of the waste management company RDE Harghita, about the process and importance of recycling. Afterwards, they created creative collages under the theme of “pollution monsters.” On the third and fourth days, the young participants crafted containers for selective waste collection by reusing old buckets. On the last day, the group – already bonded by their shared experiences went on a trip to Remetea, where they visited the headquarters of the waste management company Eco Bihor-RDE Harghita-Eco Csík and had the opportunity to closely observe the waste-sorting process. The camp ended with a communal lunch in Gheorgheni.

We would like to thank Operations Director János Csanád for his support in organizing this educational trip!
