Graduating students of the Vocational Lyceum “Ion Vlasiu” from Tîrgu-Mureș took part in a study trip to Miercurea Ciuc on the 16th of December. The tour was enabled by the Find Your Way to The World of Work project of Caritas Alba Iulia. The experience report of Éva Bojoievschi and Áron Székely mentors can be read below.

Our first destination was the Harghita County Cultural Center, where Angéla Ferencz, the director, presented the institution`s activities. We learned that the Center nurtures and supports traditional activities and protects the treasures of our heritage. Young people met some professionals who have worked at the Center, and we noticed that many of them were interested in photography. Besides, they had the opportunity to find out more about the volunteering possibilities of the cultural sphere.

The second stop of our trip was the Folk Art School “Vámszer Géza”. Here, we were welcomed by the director, Árpád Sándor, who presented the aims and activities of the school, showed us around and gave us an insight into the classes. The teachers – among whom we met a woodcarver, a piano teacher and a violin teacher – presented their professions and they told us about their career paths, too. They shared with us their success stories and their challenges, as well. In addition, the master woodcarver gave some advice to young people, who study carpentry, on how to complement their professional knowledge.

At the end, we evaluated the activities of the day. Students came to the conclusion that they shouldn`t give up on their dreams, and it`s never too late to take actions in order to reach their goals.
