Intercultural event for children in Ojdula

From the 27th June to the 1st July 2016 we organised a 5-day intercultural event for the children from Ojdula, in Covasna County.

“Our primary goal was to make the summer more colourful for children of local needy families, to facilitate the interaction between children of different nationalities, and to consolidate mutual acceptance” – said Kinga Hubbes, organiser and representative of the regional Caritas.

The basis of the event was the legend of “the diamonds from Ojdula”: over the 5 days we organised interactive playing activities, first of all for the primary school pupils of the “Kun Kocsárd” School in the village. Originally, the organisers considered including 30 children from the school, but there were more applicants: more than 80 children submitted their drawings to the contest when it was announced by Caritas. 80 children came regularly to activities based on the land of fairy tales. Days of sport, handicraft, manual dexterity, music, dance, fairy tales and ecology were included in the programme. The camp culminated in an exhibition of the children’s creations. Their drawings and painted bird tables were given as a present to the school by the camp participants.

We would like to thank the help offered in the organisation of this event for the Green Sun Association, the Youth Sport Associoation from Sfantu Gheorghe and the Caritas Alba Iulia Associations’ Family Assistance programme!
