A very important and relevant training took place on the 19th and 20th of July. The Partnership for Safety training was presented by the Australian Catherine Santoro. She is a well-known coach, Child Protection consultant worldwide, who was invited to present the training by HANNAH – Hope and Nurture Trust NZ by CE Association.
The event was hosted by the Caritas House in Tîrgu-Mureș. We were thrilled to welcome professionals as participants from a very wide range of institutions, such as from the Department for Social Assistance and Child Protection Tîrgu-Mureș, the Directorate of Social Assistance from Tîrgu-Mureș and Sângeorgiu de Mureș, the CE Association – Dorcas Children`s Home, HANNAH Trust NZ, the Charity Service of the Order of Malta, and Caritas Alba Iulia, of course.
The training was very successful and due to serious interest we would like to continue working with Mrs. Santoro and organizing more trainings in the future. We believe the Partnering for Safety approach helps professionals in building trust and enables a better relationship with the vulnerable families or children they work with. It emphasizes the importance of building a safe and supportive network around the families in need. These tools encourage professionals to make assessments, set goals, take step-by-step actions together with the families, taking into account their needs and views, involving them in the planning process from the very beginning. This approach reminds us of the basics and makes us realize that most of the time we forget our client in the shadow of our professional theories, assessment tools and paperwork, although he or she, the human being itself, should be in the spotlight.
