Summer career discovery program for the children of Budvár and Zetea

Adventures at the City Hall of Odorheiu Secuiesc
The visit of the children from Budvár to the City Hall of Odorheiu Secuiesc was rich in information and very enjoyable. The children were able to take part in this career discovering and horizon-broadening tour within the „Rise” project of Caritas Alba Iulia, during which they not only got to know the impressive building, but also met the staff of the institution through a greeting, a handshake and a short conversation. During their visit, they met three people. First, a tour guide and the head of the event organizing department, who warmly welcomed them and accompanied them through the building. They showed them the ceremonial hall, talked about its structural and decorative elements, introduced their colleagues, detailed the tasks related to their professions, and also explained what type of work is generally carried out at the city hall. Later, they led them to the council chamber, where they had the chance to meet the mayor himself. They shook hands with him and were even able to ask him questions. „What time do you start work? What do you like about your job? What size of shoe do you wear?” – the children bombarded the city leader with such questions, from whose answers they still remembered one piece of information related to an important issue: that the matter of the roofs of the Budvár apartment blocks is handled not by the mayor, but by the deputy mayor.

Cutting news at „Székelyföldi Stúdió”
The second stop of the program was the editorial office of the news portal „Udvarhelyi Hírportál”. Journalist Előd Gál recounts the visit`s „glacier-melting”, relationship-strengthening effect in his writing. The third location of the career exploration adventures was the „Székelyföldi Stúdió”. Here, the children from Budvár and Zetea got to know the work of news editors, cameramen, video editors and reporters, and then, in a practical interview situation, they were able to experience the different stages of the news editing process.

The program’s career orientation route winds its way toward the police, the library and the Mini Transylvania Park. And further, further.
