Volunteering bourse in Studium Hub

Nearly 150 curious university and high school students were paying attention to the organizers and performers of the volunteering bourse in Studium Hub.

The event was organized for the first time by Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania, University of Debrecen and “János Selye” University of Komárom as a part of the Erasmus+ project. The target audience were those university and high school students who would like to see the possibilities of volunteering at local civilian organizations and companies, and would happily sacrifice some of their free time to do a heartfelt job.

Ágnes Sántha, adjunct of Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania  stated that the main goal of this event was to introduce and popularize the volunteering possibilities at local organizations and to let young people recognize the beauty of voluntary work. They also wanted to talk about how volunteering doesn’t only help with people’s self-perception but also contributes to their future careers, since if you can allude to previously done volunteer work in your autobiography, your registration may be partaken in advantages. Those place-hunters, who have some kind of experience in volunteering work, are highly appreciated abroad. The organizers of this event are encouraging local civilian organizations to offer volunteering possibilities to young people or favor those who have volunteering in their autobiographies.

In the volunteering bourse, the first-year students of Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania and the classes of Electromaros School Centre were the participants. They had the opportunity to meet the colleagues of four civilian organizations. Yuppi Camp, Milvus, Outward Bound and Caritas Alba Iulia had introduced their organizations through short presentations and interactive activities. By these, students were able to witness a part of the organizations’ work mentioned above.

The activities were good ice breakers. A joyful and curious team came together in front of the stands and the exhibition of pictures about volunteering for Caritas, questions were frequently asked and all of the self-knowledge tests were taken from the tables of the career counseling mentors of the program Find Your Way To The World Of Work. From all of these considerations, organizers concluded that it is definitely worth organizing a bourse next year too.

The event was organized with the support of the European Union (project identification number: 2020-1-RO01-KA203-079899).
