World Social Work Day

World Social Work Day takes place on 18 March 2025. This year’s theme is ‘Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing’, which emphasises the importance of caring and respecting across generations to build strong societies, sustain the environment, and share wisdom for a better future.

Social workers are indispensable to the community, dedicating their daily lives to helping people, often in situations that are truly challenging.

Dear colleagues!

You are the ones who help others gain control over their lives, who guide them to recognize their potential, and who encourage them to live fuller, happier lives. The work you do with faith and empathy makes a real difference in the world, even if we often don’t see the results right away. Perhaps the greatest challenge is when it seems that there is no solution to a difficult situation, no support, but remember that even then you listened to and connected with a fellow human being.

Your work often takes place in the background, yet it is essential to the success of the teams. You are the ones who help to create the communication bridge, whether it is between the beneficiaries and the community or institutions. You are often the ones who convey the most important messages and help people understand how the system works, what options they have, and how they can find their place in it. Your selfless work, the love, patience, and support you give are invaluable – we encourage you to continue to believe in this.

On World Social Work Day, we express our respect and appreciation for all that you do every day. Thank you for being there for those who need help the most and for showing them how to find their own path, how to rise and start a new chapter in their lives. We are proud of you and grateful for all that you do, continue to persevere in this wonderful profession.

With God’s blessing, we wish you strength, perseverance and happiness in the work ahead!
