Young graduates met their future bosses

The Find Your Way to the World of Work project of Caritas Alba Iulia organised for the second time the Meet Your Future Boss event at the „Bocskai István” Reformed Community House in Odorheiu Secuiesc on the 3rd of February. The popular event brought together graduating students and the representatives of eight companies from the region of Odorheiu Secuiesc: Boroinfo Baking Academy, Cetate Production, Color Metal, Salon ERKA, „Gondűző” Hotel and Restaurant, Melinda Impex, Merkúr/Elan Trió and Septimia Resort.

The event was attended by graduating students from a carpentry and a metalworking class from the „Bányai János” Technical High School and a bakery-confectionery class from the „Eötvös József„ Technical High School.

Since our mentors regularly hold group sessions in these classes, students had the opportunity to prepare smart questions before the event, which they could then address to their future bosses.

The aim of the event was to bring young people closer to the world of work and to help them gain an insight into the work processes of different companies. The students formed groups of six to eight, then sat down to talk to the company representatives according to their interests, doing it in turns at ten to fifteen minute intervals.

We wanted to motivate them to talk to as many companies as possible, so we announced a competition at the beginning of the meeting: each young person had to contact at least four companies. Who did so, those names were entered into a draw list. At the end of the event, we surprised three students per class with dinner invitations, which were crowned with a bowling night. The winners will enjoy a dinner with their mentors, during which they will have the opportunity to taste delicious foods and to learn the basics of restaurant etiquette.

We can conclude, that this was a good, interactive meeting, and we are lucky to build on these experiences in the future.
